Stories from the Heart: THE LADÁNYI FAMILY (Book Design)
A self-published editorial design project combining personal family history, digital photo restoration, and complete book layout. The volume chronicles a century of the Ladányi family's lineage through a grandmother's memories and a young graphic artist's visual direction.
Sometimes the most meaningful stories arrive quietly. This project is far more than a personal family keepsake; it is a visual and narrative bridge connecting generations. The core of the book emerged from intimate conversations with my grandmother over cups of hot cocoa, where I gathered her oral history and transformed it into a cohesive written narrative tracing back to my great-grandparents' life starting in 1923.
Visuals & Graphic Design Concept: As a graphic designer and artist, my goal was to give these historical memories a dignified visual form:
Cover Art & Symbolism: The cover design captures the warmth of shared storytelling. At the bottom, my grandmother's hand represents the present, while a shadow collage of my great-grandmother’s hand casts onto the wall behind — symbolizing an invisible, continuous chain of love across generations.
Digital Photo Restoration & Colorization: Scanning, repairing, and carefully colorizing damaged, century-old archival family photographs while retaining their original authenticity and emotional atmosphere.
Editorial Design & Typography: Complete book layout, typography, and prepress design structured to offer a clean, elegant, and timeless reading experience.
