Turned Off Its Hinges
An experimental digital collage merging the architectural heritage of a historic building with raw, hand-applied paint textures and vectorized lines. A synthesis of structure and organic gesture.
Turned Off Its Hinges is the result of an experimental creative process that bridges spatial experience, architectural form, and expressive paint gestures.
The project originated from photographs taken while walking through the grand, historic halls of the "Refi" building. I transformed and reframed these architectural fragments into clean vector graphics. Simultaneously in the studio, I experimented with raw analog textures—splattering, spreading, and layering paint on paper, which I then scanned at high resolution.
In the digital collage stage, I filled the empty negative spaces of the vectorized photographs with these organic textures. The resulting artworks balance on the threshold between the physical and the digital, casting the original architectural atmosphere into a compelling new perspective.
