Soul Grinder centers on the process of transforming texture and material identity. The entire composition was created digitally by collaging scanned layers of paper I painted by hand in the studio.
The core challenge and focus of my experimentation was giving the naturally warm, organic paper and paint layers a cold, metallic, and industrial edge. Through extensive digital manipulation and layering, the soft paper surfaces lost their original physical nature, evolving into heavy, metallic-feeling textures.
